So I hate admitting that when I was younger I wasn’t as careful about how I took care of my make up or my make up brushes. Since we use our brushes every day sometimes it slips your mind to clean our tools. Bacteria build up on make up brushes can cause break outs and germ growth so it is important that your brushes are cleaned regularly.
For daily cleaning, I used to use the Laura Mercier brush cleaner that you can buy here but recently a good friend shared a life hack with me on how to clean my brushes and remove all of the product and color in make up brushed, and to my amazement it worked really well and is really cost efficient also. The instructions are super simple and really quick, it also saves you a trip to Sephora to load up on brush cleaner. Here you go, enjoy!
Instructions:
- Mix equal parts olive oil, gentle soap/shampoo, and water to a shallow dish or plate and swirl dirty brush in mixture.
- Rinse under cold water and repeat.
- Be amazed as you see all of the color and product run down your sink.
